Many of us have learnt that God is this ... 'Almighty Person' - controlling everything and deciding the fate of everyone. If you are bad you get punished and if you are good - well... maybe you get lucky and receive some kind of blessing. Some say that the pages of the Bible are painted red with the victims of a blood-thirsty Vampire God.

 

Is this the picture of a loving, caring  Father? Is this picture the only truth or are there other possibilities as well? Is it possible that our picture of God has become tainted?

I found a particularly great truth in the Christian Bible. I believe I found the age-old strategy of a very powerful demon-god called Satan: a military strategy designed to firstly isolate you from your support systems and then to ultimately destroy you:

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  Joh 10:10(a)​

• Steal = Finances, possessions and financial support, including job losses, loss of income or investments etc.​
• ​Kill = Health, including our well-being on physical, pshycological and spiritual levels.​
• Destroy = Relationships and ultimately - life. Divorced? Relationship with Mom/Dad/Spouse/Child/Best friend destroyed?/Suicide tendency?​

My father was a good man. My mother is a good woman. But they were not perfect. Neither did they have classes in school on 'How to be a good parent' or 'How to maintain your family'. When I became a parent, I found the same shortages in me. I found that, although my dad was a good man, he did not know that he was supposed to teach me some of the skills that I will need to survive in the jungle of life. Many a time this is the problem: You don't know how... Admitting that you have a problem - this can be with relationships, finances, drugs, etc. - is the first step to winning that thing. The second thing is to swallow your pride and see if you cannot learn from others.​
